I had a blast in Washington today! Beautiful sunny weather and lots of adventures meeting people at anti-fracking protests, senators and representatives offices, and senate gallery coatrooms!

Day 8: Maryland, Washington DC
Starting about 45 miles north of Baltimore, I followed US Route 40 west into the city.
Days 6 & 7: Pennsylvania, Delaware, & Maryland, or, “The Land of Broken Glass.”
Philadelphia/Halloween was a nice chance to catch up with friends, do some recovering, and of course see what’s up on the Schuylkill.
Day 5: New Jersey, Pennsylvania
New Jersey is actually a great place. For bike riding, anyways
Day 4: New York, New Jersey
A beautifully/happily sunny morning today, and started out feeling optimistic- a few more miles in NY, then on to New Jersey and hopefully Princeton by dinner.
Day 3: New York, or, I welcome our Benevolent Overlord Google
Following a so-far wise decision to check out alternative routes that don’t require biking up every hill between me and my destination, I left Millerton, NY on the Harlem Valley Rail Trail. It’s smooth, flat, and straight.
Day 2: Connecticut & New York
Another beautiful day, although I’ve heard threats of rain tomorrow. Took a turn away from the planned route after Windsor Locks (check out that Connecticut River, by the way- I’d row all over that) because there were too freaking many hills- not just inconvenient, but seriously slow.
Renewable Ride: Recall
It’s been a little while since last year’s Renewable Ride, a 4,000 self supported bicycle trip I made from Providence, RI to Los Angeles, CA to raise money for 350.org and bring awareness to the need to develop effective renewable energy strategies going forwards.
