Days 15 and 16: Adventure without End, Part II
After a fantastic and scenic stay with Pat in Buena Vista, I headed out with high hopes to make it to Blacksburg in spite of the cloudy outlook.
Day 8: Maryland, Washington DC
Starting about 45 miles north of Baltimore, I followed US Route 40 west into the city.
Days 6 & 7: Pennsylvania, Delaware, & Maryland, or, “The Land of Broken Glass.”
Philadelphia/Halloween was a nice chance to catch up with friends, do some recovering, and of course see what’s up on the Schuylkill.
Day 4: New York, New Jersey
A beautifully/happily sunny morning today, and started out feeling optimistic- a few more miles in NY, then on to New Jersey and hopefully Princeton by dinner.

Following a so-far wise decision to check out alternative routes that don’t require biking up every hill between me and my destination, I left Millerton, NY on the Harlem Valley Rail Trail. It’s smooth, flat, and straight.
Renewable Ride: Recall
It’s been a little while since last year’s Renewable Ride, a 4,000 self supported bicycle trip I made from Providence, RI to Los Angeles, CA to raise money for 350.org and bring awareness to the need to develop effective renewable energy strategies going forwards.
